I agree with you, his abs are a little out of control. As for the cheesiness, do not feel ashamed. Though few will admit it, cheesiness is one of the key qualities propelling 1-hour TV dramas.

The show was interesting, at times exciting but not always fun.

Yeah, fans of the book have opposing reactions on this one, from what I’ve heard – the book was far more graphic and sexual… So, I can understand that. It’s hard to top an LOTR-like translation. :p

You know what really helps when you feel an urge to write but you don’t have any idea what your story is going to be yet? Critiquing other people’s work.

I suggest you join a writing group like Critters (http://www.critters.org/). Reading other people’s short stories may not help you find a story you DO want to write, but it’s going help you discover a long list of the types of story you DON’T want to write and the style or “voice” you don’t want to use. And believe me, it comes as a real relief to finally make a little progress against that nebulous desire to write something.

I speak from experience.

It’s pretty good, man. Quite unique, especially the way they handled the “ninja” talents. It’s a light read though, moves just like a movie would (in fact, I heard the rights were bought already :p)
